1. What is Tinké?

Tinké (pronounced "tink") is an optical sensory device for smartphones that monitors your fitness and wellness with the touch of a finger. The four aspects that Tinké measures are heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen levels, as well as heart rate variability.

3. Which devices are Tinké compatible with?

Tinké with 30-pin connector is compatible with the following devices:
  • iPhone (3GS, 4, 4S)
  • iPad (2nd & 3rd generation)
  • iPod Touch (3rd & 4th generation)
Tinké with 30-pin connector will only work with iOS devices with a lightning port when used ONLY with Apple's lightning to 30-pin adaptor. Please note that adaptor is NOT provided.

Tinké with lightning connector is compatible with the following devices:
  • iPhone (5,5C,5S)
  • iPad (4th generation)
  • iPad Mini
  • iPod Touch (5th generation)

Tinké for Android is compatible with the following devices :
  • Samsung Galaxy (S3,S4)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note, Note 2 & Note 3
  • Sony Xperia Z1s
  • Google Nexus 5
  • LG G2
  • Xiaomi 2S

4. How can I view my results?

Your results can be viewed on your smartphone via your History page.

You are also able to export data taken during the last 30 days in CSV format. For data export, simply go to 'Account Settings', scroll down and tap on 'Export'. All data will be sent to an email of your choice.

5. Is my personal information shared with others?

While Tinké encourages the sharing of fitness and wellness information amongst your community of friends and family, there is an option in the Tinké app that allows you to keep all data private. Further, we place very high importance on preserving your personal data and will not share your information to third parties without your authorization.

6. How does Tinké work?

Tinké works on the basis of detecting changes in skin blood volume. Using advanced signal processing technologies, Tinké transforms detected signals into quantitative data.

7. How accurate is Tinké?

Tinké's accuracy ranges for the 3 parameters are as shown:
  • Heart rate: +/- 2 beats per minute
  • Respiratory rate: +/- 2 breaths per minute
  • Blood oxygen saturation: +/- 3%

Note: Tinké is not a medical device.

8. What can I do to get an accurate reading?

When taking a measurement, be sure to take note of the following:
  • You should stay stationary and try to minimize movement while conducting any measurement.
  • Do not take any measurements when you are on the move, in the midst of engaging in any sort of physical activity or immediately after any strenuous physical activities.
  • Measurements should be conducted only in areas of low lighting conditions.
  • Measurements should most ideally be taken with your thumb.

9. Is Tinké water resistant?

Tinké is not water resistant. Avoid exposing Tinké to any form of liquids including rain and sweat. Exposure to the abovementioned may result in Tinké malfunctioning and will void your warranty.

10. Does Tinké require a battery?

Currently, Tinké with 30-pin connector/ Tinké with lightning connector is powered via your smartphone and there is no need for a battery. Tinké for Android runs on a rechargeable battery which lasts approximately for 120 spots checks, 30 days typical. (Tinké for Android should be powered off after every measurement)

11. How do I use Tinké?

It's really simple! Simply start the Tinké app, connect Tinké (Tinké with 30-pin connector/Tinké with lightning connector) or switch on Tinké (Tinké for Android) when prompted and place your thumb on the sensing platform of Tinké to start measuring. Just gentle pressure will suffice.

12. Why can't my phone detect my Tinké?

Tinké with 30-pin connector/Tinké with lightning connector : The connection between your phone and Tinké may be loose. Try unplugging and replugging Tinké. A red light should appear on your Tinké upon a successful connection.

Tinké for Android: Try re-pairing your Tinké with your phone. To do so, disable and enable bluetooth in settings and attempt to take a measurement again.

13. My Tinké is not working, what do I do?

If Tinké lights up when connected to your phone (for Tinké with 30-pin connector/Tinké with lightning connector) or when switched on (for Tinké for Android), but you still cannot take any measurements, try restarting the app.

If restarting the app still does not help, please contact us at support@zensorium.com or engage us on our community.

To ensure optimized performance of the app, it is recommended that you restart your app everyday.

14. Do I have to download the Tinké app to use Tinké?

Yes. The Tinké app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play store. Upon first usage, you will be prompted to create an account, or you can just login if you already have an existing account.

15. How much does the Tinké app cost?

The Tinké app can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store and Google Play store. However, you will need a Tinké device to use the app.

16. What is a Vita Index?

The Vita index is a personalized score created by piecing together your heart rate, respiratory rate and blood oxygen saturation levels. This index quantifies and provides an instant interpretation of your fitness.

17. What is a Zen Index?

Using heart rate variability as a basis, the Zen Index is a personalized score that quantifies your level of relaxation in a simplified manner.

18. I am being prompted of error messages "Please retake" and "Uh-oh" at the end of a measurements. What are these and what should I do?

These error messages are designed to let you know when measurement conditions are not optimum.

The "Please retake" message appears when there is too much movement or if your thumb does not cover the sensing area of Tinké completely during a measurement. To avoid this, please ensure that your thumb covers both the holes on Tinké and remains there throughout the measurement. Do also try to remain still throughout the duration of the measurement.

The "Uh-oh" message comes up when the environment in which you are taking your measurements are not suitable. For example, if Tinké detects that the lighting around your thumb area is strong, it prompts you to retake your measurements in a more suitable environment.

19. How can I monitor my results (i.e. heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, Vita Index and Zen Index)?

Yours results can be viewed in a graphical format in the History feature. We encourage long term monitoring of your results.

20. What is a Tinké network?

The Tinké network is a platform that allows you to add fellow Tinké users as friends, share your results and give comments.

21. How can I add friends?

You can search for your friends via their names and contact numbers if they are part of the Tinké network.
